Celtics-Knicks recap: Tatum injury underscores nightmare Game 4 for Boston

The Celtics will look to stay alive Wednesday, possibly without their superstar.

NBC Universal, Inc.

What to Know

  • Knicks lead series 3-1 after their 121-113 win.
  • Jayson Tatum suffered apparent right leg injury in fourth quarter, did not return.
  • Tatum dropped 42 points prior to his injury.
  • Knicks outscored Celtics in second half, 70-51.
  • Game 5 at TD Garden set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Boston Celtics are officially on the ropes.

Despite leading by as many as 14 points, and maintaining a lead for almost all of the first three quarters, the C's are in a 3-1 series hole after falling to the New York Knicks in Monday's Game 4, 121-113. Knicks star Jalen Brunson once again stepped up in crunch time, propelling his team to victory with 39 points (18 in third quarter).

It was a duel between Brunson and Jayson Tatum until Tatum went down with an apparent right leg injury in the fourth quarter. The C's star did not put any weight on his right leg as he was helped off the court.

The series will shift back to Boston for a do-or-die Game 5 on Wednesday night.
